We’ve all seen the 4M’s of marketing, I’ve also seen the 12C’s of marketing and the 5P’s of professional services marketing. All of these are based on producing lengthy marketing and business plans which just fill up your filing cabinets. Quite often we complicate management processes too much with the result that there is not enough time to take action.
My experience, built over too many years of preparing such stupid plans is to focus instead on easily actionable tactics and strategies that are clearly aligned to your overall business goals.
I call these the 3M’s of business management.
1 – Manage the implementation
2 – Monitor the results
3 – Modify the tactics accordingly
Action Plans = YES
Plans for filing cabinets = NO – because they are never implemented.
